Library Info for Students and Parents

Welcome to the Smithville Christian High School Library and Research Centre.

The Library and Research Centre at Smithville Christian High School is a vibrant place. The library offers a wealth of curriculum-based information in books, magazines, and encyclopaedias. There is an impressive collection of fiction available which is constantly updated with the most current titles. There is always a librarian on site to assist students with finding the right information and help them reach their goals.

In the Smithville Christian library we use Destiny cataloguing software. Within Destiny you will find the entire collection of books available in the library, but also a search engine which gives the student access to reliable Internet sources, researched and approved by a network of teachers and librarians. This search engine is called Webpath Express and we highly recommend it to our students.

Because a lot of research is done online, it is strongly recommended that each student has a library card with the Public Library in their area. For more information, please visit the municipal libraries’ websites (You will find direct links to their websites under Research/Resources and Tips). Their extensive databases are available to our students free of charge in the event a student is looking for just that little more information.

Please visit the Research Resources and Tips page regularly. It’s the place to start for any research assignment—for school or work. You can get to it from the drop down menu on the home page, or by following the link here.

Books for Parents
The library is also pleased to offer a selection of titles devoted to parents. Click here for an updated list of books of special interest to parents of teenagers. To borrow these or any other books, contact the school office to request a guest patron library card.

If you have any questions, please contact the school librarian by e-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or by phone (905) 957 3255.

We look forward to welcoming you in our library.
