Smithville Christian High School has been supporting Christian families by equipping their high school children with hope and an excellent Christian education since 1980. It was originally an extension of Hamilton District Christian High School—opened for families in the West Niagara area who yearned for Christian education.
The school is governed by a nine-member board elected from among its membership. Its non-denominational character enables participation and ownership from Christians of broad denominational backgrounds. The school exists to support Christian families from a wide geographical area; our students come from many communities from St. Catharines to Stoney Creek, from Port Colborne to Dunnville, from Beamsville to Cayuga and from around the globe.
Smithville Christian High School is a member of The Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools (OACS), an organization of around 75 Ontario Christian schools. OACS schools are known throughout the province for their remarkable programs, strong Christian character and instructional excellence.
Our educational facility consists of 20 learning spaces, including a beautiful library and resource centre, a full-size double gym with a well equipped stage, a small fitness centre, two well-equipped science laboratories, a large music room, a spacious student lounge, two fully-equipped shops, a drama room, a newly-renovated kitchen, and three computer spaces each able to accommodate a full class of students. Most classrooms are outfitted with projection technology, and many are equipped with interactive Smart boards.
Our excellent university and college bound programs bring about high admissions averages to post-secondary programs, from elite university programs to college and apprenticeship programs. In addition, the Christian perspective which students are taught in every course and the personal attention they have enjoyed prepares our students for the life of service to which God has called them.
